This co educational public fund established in 1995, has explored them as the leader of distance education. It is joint venture in between the Govt. of Sikkim and Manipal Educational Group. This university is recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC), University Grants Commission (UGC), Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD).
